Yaya Toure denies retirement rumors

Former Ivory Coast Captain, Yaya Toure has denied reports that he has put an end to his playing career.

The news of his retirement was announced by his agent, Dimitri Seluk on Friday where he announced that his client Yaya Toure was now planning on moving into management.

Yaya has however taken to twitter to admit his desire to get his coaching badges but also to deny all rumors about his retirement saying;

“There has been a lot of confusion about my future recently. I want to make it clear here that I love football and I’m still in contention to play for a few more years. Yes, I’m starting to prepare myself for coaching badges but full time coaching is not what I’m thinking now.”

I am now ready and focused to take new challenges in playing football! And don’t worry once the time has come, I will announce my retirement personally and officially by myself “,he added.

Yaya Toure was part of Barcelona’s treble winning side of 2009 before moving on to Manchester City in 2010. He spent 8 years at City, where he won 3 Premier League titles. At the international stage, Yaya won the 2015 African Cup of Nations where Cote D’Ivoire beat Ghana 9-8 on penalties.

He was also named African player of the year for four consecutive years from 2011 to 2014.

Yaya is currently without a club but still maintains he still has some playing days left in him.
