The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has charged the member of the opposition party to do the needful to ensure a win in the forthcoming December 7th election.
This, he says will be the best way of honouring the memory of the fallen founder.
Former president Rawlings passed away at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital last Thursday after a short illness and already, his memory is being honoured with tributes from far and near.
In a short vigil at the Obra Spot by the NDC, Asiedu Nketia noted that Rawlings was an efficient and integral part of the NDC, saying his June 4th 1979 revolution was for a good purpose, but unfortunately, things have gone worse than it was during his time. He called on the membership of the party to ensure that right measures are put in place to bring the party back into power after the polls, saying that will be the best way of honouring the memory of Rawlings.
“The principles of Rawlings are good, but they will be impotent if we are in opposition. So, the best tribute to President Rawlings is to be committed to the Rescue Mission.
So be fired up by the temporary demise of our founder to win this election and rescue this nation Ghana which was dear to his heart from the very ills he fought against all his life.
Corruption today is worse than what he fought against on the occasion of June 4th. Nepotism today is worse than what occasioned the June 4th revolution. Let us fight to come to power. Let us revisit the idea of June 4th becoming one of the national holidays. We can only do this in power”, h said.
