A head-on crash on U.S. Highway 301 near Mobley Road in Lucama, Wilson County, has left four people dead.
The collision, which occurred Thursday at 4:49 p.m., involved two cars traveling in opposite directions.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that one car was heading north while the other was going south on U.S. 301. They collided head-on, causing one car to catch fire and the other to overturn and land off the road.
Each car had two occupants, and tragically, all four lost their lives.
2 victims have been identified as Greta Lynette Pender Ray/ Greta Lynn Ray and Brandi Jyasia Sherrod, 21.
Witness Account
Kristina McDougle, who passed the scene moments after the crash, shared her shock with WRAL News.
“If I hadn’t stopped at Dollar General, I might’ve been in that crash,” McDougle said. “It breaks my heart. It’s almost Christmas, and families are losing their loved ones.”
