A transgender teen identified as William Whitworth is in custody after authorities say they recovered a manifesto detailing her plan to attack three schools and churches in Colorado.
William Whitworth, 19, was arrested on March 31.
Whitworth was a former student in the school district that she planned to attack between 2014 and 2016.
William Whitworth is facing multiple charges, including criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree, criminal mischief, menacing, and interference with staff, faculty, or students of educational institutions.
In a manifesto that was recovered in her home, Whitworth called Columbine killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold ‘losers,’ said that Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza was ‘smart’ and that ex-President Donald Trump was a ‘con man.’
She was also in possession of The Communist Manifesto.
The suspect’s sister contacted the police after Whitworth exhibited violent behavior and made threats.
Responding officers found that she had punched holes in a wall.
Investigators found Whitworth’s rambling four-page manifesto, a floor plan written on a dry erase board, and a notebook containing a list of names.
The suspect claimed that she had been planning the attack for two months and had details on how to create and detonate a bomb, a list of guns, and instructions on how to 3D print them. However, no guns were found in the home, only firearm cleaning supplies.
Whitworth attended the school district she was targeting for only nine months, from August to October 2016.
Whitworth is in the process of transitioning from male to female, according to a spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. All the targeted schools have armed school resource officers on campus, who are members of the Colorado Springs Police Department.
