On Sunday, Wichita police responded to a deadly shooting involving four victims, believed to be linked to a murder-suicide.
The incident occurred in two locations, where a 42-year-old man allegedly killed his father, stepfather, and two neighbors before turning the gun on himself.
Officers arrived at around 5:45 p.m. at a residence in the 1700 block of South Santa Fe after receiving a call about a possible death.
Inside the home, police found 67-year-old Anthony Stickney, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
Investigators identified the last person seen at the home as Anthony’s son, 42-year-old Joshua Stickney.
Following this lead, police went to Joshua’s residence at 1900 S. Laura.
Through a window, officers saw two unresponsive individuals inside the home. Forcing entry at around 7 p.m., they discovered the bodies of Joshua, his neighbor Donald Dodge (66), and his stepfather, Terry Meyer (55), all with gunshot wounds.
Police located a firearm near Joshua’s body, and they believe his gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
While investigating, officers attempted to find someone to care for Joshua’s pet and were directed to contact another neighbor, 39-year-old Alan Young.
Arriving at Alan’s nearby home, officers observed him lying unresponsive through a window.
They forced entry and confirmed Alan had also been shot.
Wichita police have not yet confirmed the motive behind the shootings.
However, preliminary ballistics tests suggest that the firearm found near Joshua’s body was used in each of the shootings.
Authorities assured residents that the incident does not appear random, and no additional suspects are at large.
Investigators are continuing to examine scene evidence, conduct interviews, and review digital evidence to uncover further details about the events that led up to the shootings.
Police stated that there is currently no indication of ongoing danger to the public, although the investigation remains active as officers work to piece together the sequence of events.
