Ace Nigerian broadcaster, Emma Ugolee has called on music industry stakeholders from other regions in Nigeria to support and grow the music industry in their respective regions to be able to compete with their counterparts from the south-west, especially in Lagos.
In a post which the respected media personality who is popular for his then popular music tv show, ‘The Gist’ shared on his Instagram, he made reference to the successes of South-Western born artistes like Davido, Wizkid and Olamide and how above their talent, they have enjoyed massive support from the people and media in their region to get the popularity they enjoy today.
He wrote; “When it comes to entertainment, one thing you must admire about the South West is how much the people support their own.
“The government, media and masses all together. A beautifully orchestrated movement. It is no mistake that Davido, Wizkid and Olamide are the three hottest acts in the country today. Same reason why King Sunny Ade still has a booked calendar and Obesere and co are 10 times more relevant than their contemporaries from other regions.
“While it would be a sin not to acknowledge that all of the above mentioned acts have been enviable with hard work, the structure that they glide on leaves a reason for the rest of the region’s to wake up”
