Young Dolph was born in Chicago, on July 27, 1985, as Adolph Thornton Johnson Jr.

At the age of 2, his family moved to Memphis.
In 2020, he donated $ 25,000 to Hamilton High School, his alma mater.

What was Young Dolph’s debut?

A mixtape entitled “Paper Route Campaign” was Dolph’s first professional release in 2008.

His debut studio album, entitled King of Memphis eight years later, marked a major breakthrough in his hometown.

What happened when Young Dolph was shot in 2017?

More than 100 rounds of gunfire were fired at Dolph’s $300,000 SUV during a shooting in Charlotte in February 2017. 

According to Dolph, the car’s bulletproof panels saved him.

 Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta, signed to Yo Gotti’s record label, was charged with involvement in the shooting (the charges were dropped in 2019). 

His second studio album, Bulletproof, was titled defiantly back in April. 

It was reported in September 2017 that Dolph was shot in Hollywood outside a hotel. 

With three bullet wounds, he was hospitalized in critical condition, but was able to leave after a few weeks.

Why were Young Dolph and Yo Gotti feuding?

Several years ago, the feud between Yo Gotti and Dolph was a major storyline in Memphis rap. 

As Dolph claimed in a 2016 tweet, Gotti was “my biggest hater.” 

The feud was sparked in part by Dolph’s claim that he turned down label offers from Gotti.

What was Young Dolph’s highest-charting record?

The rapper’s fifth studio album, “Rich Slave,” debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart in 2020, becoming his highest-charting record. 

According to Dolph, his success brought renewed attention to the Memphis rap scene in 2019. “Memphis wasn’t hot before Dolph came out,” he said. “Dolph put the light on Memphis.”
