Netflix has just released a shocking new documentary that examines the life and career of Simon Leviev, leaving almost thousands of viewers with many questions.
On Feb. 2, a two-hour documentary titled The Tinder Swindler premiered on Netflix.
The premise of the documentary centers on Simon Leviev, a serial fraudster who scammed approximately ten million dollars from women he met through Tinder.
Even though he used multiple aliases, the swindler was widely identified as Simon Leviev.
He mostly portrayed himself to women on Tinder as being the son of Israeli diamond oligarch Lev Leviev and “prince of diamonds.”
Cecilie Fjellhoy, Pernilla Sjöholm, and Ayleen Charlotte, all victims of the Tinder trickster, recount their astonishing and heartbreaking experiences in the scandal-based documentary.
Who is Simon Leviev?
Known by his birth name Shimon Hayut, the Israeli fugitive ran away from his country in 2011 to avoid charges related to fraud that he committed in his early 20s.
According to the Times of Israel, he fled to Finland and was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment there for defrauding three women in 2015.
In 2017, Simon returned back to Israel, but before he could be arrested again, he fled to Europe for a second time where he changed his name to Simon Leviev.
This is where the main story of The Tinder Swindler begins, which tells the tale of Fjellhoy.
