Alhaji Sow, an 18-year-old student at Florida Institute of Technology, was shot and killed by police on Friday, 3rd December 2021.
According to reports, Alhaji Sow allegedly assaulted a number of students, armed with a knife, at around 11 p.m on Friday.
He was reported to have gone into the residential building on campus, where witnesses saw him.
Sow, allegedly armed with an edged weapon, was confronted by police and Florida Tech security officers.
In the course of the confrontation, police said Sow lunged at a police officer, which prompted the officer and a security guard to shoot him.
Who Is Alhaji Sow?
A native of Georgia and a resident of Clayton County, Georgia, Alhaji M. Sow was an African-American student.
He studied at North Clayton High School in College Park, Georgia, from 2017 to 2021.
He earned an associate degree in general studies at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia, from 2019 to 2021.
In February 2021, he became a fast food team member for Chick-fil-A in Atlanta, Georgia.
He worked as a part-time data entry specialist for Clayton County Youth Services in Jonesboro, Georgia between February 2021 and July 2021.
In August 2021, he started working as a part-time tutor at Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) in Melbourne, Florida, USA while studying aeronautical science in the school.
