The last time Davido and Mayorkun collaborated on a song, it was on Danagog’s uninspired “Bambiala”, and both of them were given the hefty task of taking it from terrible to average — which they managed to pull off.
This time around, their work is a lot simpler. They are brought on to add that Nigerian flare to the remixof Ghanaian singer, KiDi’s “Odo”, a song that was already quite solid without them.
KiDi’s “Odo” was a certified banger from the moment it dropped — giving the Ghanaian newcomer his first hit song. With the track already earning massive airplay in his home country, KiDi seems intent to take over our airwaves as well, and this remix should help with that.
Produced by KiDi himself, “Odo” is an instantly likeable love song. The remix, thankfully, doesn’t change much of what made the original so good — the production and lyrics. Adding Davido and Mayorkun definitely takes the whole thing up a notch, and we honestly need more collaborations from the two.
For the music video, which was directed by Twitch, it feels like they just lifted the concept from Wale, Wizkid and Dua Lipa’s beach party video for “My Love” — complete with those colourful backdrops that made that video so memorable in the first place.
