Veteran Broadcaster Tommy Annan Forson Recounts His First Day On Radio

Tommy Annan Forson

One of the finest broadcasters in Ghana, Tommy Annan Forson has described his first day on radio and has said it was not an easy task for him at all.

The Veteran broadcaster revealed this in an interview with Mercury Quaye on Hit Fm’s SUCCESS STORY on Wednesday.

Tommy Annan Forson has been a lovely name to hear on radio for some 41 years now, known for the excellence with which he does what he does, but as monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, the broadcaster said his first day he handled affairs of a radio host wasn’t easy for him. “It was more relaxed until I had to do a show on my own”.

Narrating what transpired, he said he was on probation as a broadcaster and was finally hired full time. He didn’t wake up to reality until one day a popular radio presenter, the late Charlie Sam who then hosted a show called 10 years of sounds asked him to sit in for him as a host. Confused about what to do, he felt skeptical about hosting the show but had to do it because he had no choice. He added that like the pastors of those days did, he openly prayed on air and asked for God’s guidance. “I turned the microphone on and I said God I come before you this afternoon. Take me through this program successfully.” Anxious about his performance, he asked Charlie the next day about his performance only to be told he did amazing. The rest is history.

Touching on how he entered broadcasting, the Veteran broadcaster described his career in radio as an act of lack and to a certain degree by accident. He said he had no proper certificates that warrants him to be a broadcaster, but had the chance to learn from great mentors of his which made him good at what he does.
