The Union Public Safety Department is investigating after finding a dead body at the scene of a shooting.
Saturday, just after 11:30 p.m., law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting on Cottage Avenue in Union.
Officers say when they arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound lying outside a house. The Union County Coroner says 34-year-old Rodney Cornelius Whitener, who lived in that house, died at the scene.
The Union Public Safety Department says they’ve contacted the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for help with the investigation.
