Two people died in overnight shootings in Birmingham, including a woman who was shot inside a bar and a man shot inside a package store.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Diontranet Tinae Brown, 35, of Birmingham, and Tremayne Javahn Long, 37, of Bessemer.
North Precinct officers received a call of a person shot around 8:50 p.m. Thursday at the 604 Bar and Lounge at 604 Ninth Street North, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
Police found Brown unresponsive inside the bar.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service rushed Brown to UAB Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 9:09 p.m.
“We do not believe this was a random shooting,’’ Fitzgerald said. “It is unclear if the victim was the intended target.”
Long was shot at 12:40 a.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Third Avenue West, according to coroner’s officials.
He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:16 a.m., becoming the fifth homicide victim in the city in seven days.
Fitzgerald said a physical fight took place between Long and another man inside Third Avenue Package Store at, which led to the fatal shots fired.
No arrests have been made in either homicide.
