A Toledo man was killed and his passenger was seriously injured in a crash in Williams County Wednesday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), Timothy Crowley Jr., 35, was driving a 2021 Ford Transit Van on State Route 66 in Williams County around noon.
Officials said he failed to yield at a stop sign on the route near U.S. Route 6 and hit a 1997 Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
The van driven by Crowley Jr. hit the side of the truck then traveled off the side of the road flipped over and hit a dance. Crowley Jr. and his passenger also from Toledo were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Crowley Jr. was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.
The passenger was flown to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with serious injuries. The driver of the truck was uninjured in the crash.
The portion of State Route 66 was closed for six hours as a result of the crash.
Troopers with OSHP are investigating the crash at this time.
