Many African countries are making the list of top travel destination in 2019 and this does not come as a surprise as 2018 was the year for Africa and the black community all over the world.

With a growing interest in African entertainment, history, culture and investments, here are the 5 most mentioned countries on various travel lists for 2019 coming together to make our top 5 travel list destination for 2019.

According to The Independent, Zimbabwe was considered one of the worst tourist travel destinations in 2015 ranking 115 out of 141 countries on the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness report released by the World Economic Forum. 3 years down the line, the country finds itself on several lists of tourist sites as one of the most considered countries to visit in Africa. Zimbabwe is also the 3rd top country to visit according to Lonely Planet and is the only African country to make the list.  Aside from its breathtaking white sand beaches and several animal reserves, the country has boosted its hospitality industry offering 5-star services to any visitor on any budget.

In the last quarter of 2018, at the United States National Press Club in Washington DC, Ghana’s president Nana Akufo Addo declared 2019 as the year of return for black diasporians eager to find a place to call home in Africa, reconnect with their history and establish themselves in the motherland. This declaration put Ghana in the news for several weeks and made it the first choice of several black celebrities such as Boris Kodjoe, Naomi Campbell, Morgan Heritage, Idris Elba among several others. With a rich availability of history and culture and several programs being organised to create a better bond between Africans and the black diasporans, Ghana is one of the African countries on several lists this year.

South Africa offers diverse activities and top class hospitality services that rank as some of the best in Africa and the world. The country is one of the two African countries that feature on the list with Senegal’s Dakar featuring at number 7. Aside Meknès, Fez is also another interesting city to visit in Morocco.

Malawi has recorded a considerable growth in tourism over the past few years and for its several game reserves and wildlife has become one of the most visited countries in Africa. As compared to the other countries on the list, Malawi is the least popular and could be considered as a new addition to the list of countries to visit in Africa. The country owes its steady popularity to the many great reviews shared online about its people, hospitality industry, food and culture.
