Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bulldog has stated emphatically in a Facebook post that the current administration in government is a mess and is running the country down.
Bulldog was responding to a communique issued by the Ministry of Information on behalf of the government and signed by the Minister of Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stating government’s position on the on-going Menzgold saga in the country.
In the said communique, the government stated that the Bank of Ghana (BOG) and the Security Exchange Commission (SEC) had on several occasions warned customers about the dealing with the firm but in all instances, warnings were ignored by customers of the firm. It went further to state that Menzgold was not licensed to by the BOG and SEC to operate in the country.
In an 8 minute video sited by ghlinks.com.gh, Bulldog expressed disappointment is how he thinks the government is a lying to Ghanaians. “It is surprising how we sit in this country and the current administration takes us for a ride”, he said.
He mentioned that some time back when the issue came up about licensing, CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah took the two government institutions to court. Asking them not to interfere in his business. He questioned government on why the BOG and SEC shut the firm down when they admit they have no right meddling in the affairs of the firm. “If you had no business why go and shut the firm down”?
He went on to question the integrity of the finanace, Ken Ofori Atta, calling him confused. He questioned why the minister’s bank was doing the same investment trade business, but wasn’t been attacked. “The minister of finance has no finance sense. What is the essence of Databank? Is it not to make profit? Then the idea of business is greed because it doesn’t make sense that I put 10 cedis in Databank and get 12 cedis”.
He encouraged the CEO of Menzold, Nana Appiah Mensah to be strong in these trying times. He said the people still have hope in him and that he would come out even stronger. He asked him to be bold and show up if the said arrest warrant issued for his arrest was indeed true, emphasizing no one would be able to send him to jail because he is guilty of no charge. “Show up if you have been served a warrant. You will not be jailed. None of your directors will be too. You were running your business until this current administration messed things up”
He urged the CEO of Menzgold and Zylofon to carefully read through the official communique from the seat of government, saying they have already interdicted themselves by saying the BOG and SEC had no right interfering in the business of Menzgold. “Read through that. They said you were not licensed by BOG and SEC and so they had no business meddling in your business.”
