Multiple award winning Ghanaian reggae and dancehall musician, Livingstone Etse Satekla popularly known as Stonebwoy has hinted on his next date which he would be releasing another album and it’s not anytime soon.
In an interview with KMJ of Accra based Hitz Fm on Tuesday, the celebrated artiste said he should have an album out in 2020. “in fact, if I am going to put an album out there, it should be in 2020.”
As monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, Stonebwoy said he doesn’t really know what this year holds for him as an artiste but his plans are to focus on other aspects of his music career for this year. “I don’t really know what 2019 has because we do make plans and things would have to change so we keeping open but I should release an album in 2020.”
The reggae and dancehall musician released Epistles Of Mama in 2017, an album which had a good number of collaborations and is still making waves on the Ghanaian and world music stages.
The album received high ratings and reviews and even made it to the reggae billboard, but Stonebwoy thinks the album can do much better than it is doing. He disclosed that he intends to have every song on the album become a hit before he moves to another album project, a vision he is still working hard on. “The plan is to have all songs on the album run through because we go through a lot to put beautiful pieces of creativity on albums.” He further hinted that his intention is to personally promote every single track on the album so that his work becomes easier. “I decided to drag the album along and to drop singles to water it down.”
The celebrated musician told host KMJ that another target he had in mind was to penetrate the Caribbean’s and the Western world with his music, something he is doing but has to really do more because it isn’t easy as an artiste to get that done. “The concentration of the Epistles of Mama album was to enter the Caribbean’s and some part of Yankie so I’ll be doing that and working on Africa as well.”
He explained that he has been doing lots of collaborations to ensure his brand doesn’t fade away but he is still pushing the Epistles Of Mama album. Responding to how his career has been so far with singles he said he loved the reaction from his fans and people because his works are doing amazingly great on the market. “For me, to have some time off to make sure the next song that I have is a cracker is cool”.
Responding to a question about which collaboration is the biggest for him in his music career, he said he has had great collaborations with artistes from around the world, but his collaboration with Sean Paul was greatest for him because it put him out there.
Stonebwoy disclosed that he would be releasing collaborations with top Jamaican acts Bennie Man and Damien Marley this year and asked fans to anticipate it.
