Raheem Sterling and Virgil Van Dijk have both been nominated for the PFA player of the year award. The two, have had a stellar campaign, as both their clubs, as Manchester City and Liverpool both continue to battle it out for the Premier League title.
Sterling’s 17 goals this season is only one fewer than he recorded the whole of last season. He also has 9 assists to his name as Manchester City battle to defend the premier league title they won last season. He has won many admirers with his performances this season and looks to be one of the favourites for this year’s award.
For Virgil Van Dijk, he has been an absolute unit in Liverpool’s defensive set up and has contributed to the reds’ 18 clean sheets this season. The defender, who joined the reds for a record £75m has overwhelmingly made his presence felt as he has overseen a massive improvement to the then ailing Liverpool defence.
Joining Sterling and Van Dijk on the list are their respective teammates, Bernardo Silva and Aguero of Man City and Sadio Mane of Liverpool. Eden Hazard joins the 5 to complete the list.
Sterling was also nominated for the Young Player of the year award. Also on that list is his City teammate Bernardo Silva. They are joined by is English youngsters Declan Rice, Trent Alexander Arnold, Marcus Rashford and David Brooks.
