A 17-year-old employee at Frankie’s Fun Park died Friday after a go-kart and forklift collided.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Kamel Seveion Sewell of Simpsonville died at about 11:42 a.m. when the go-kart he had been driving collided with an industrial-sized forklift, also driven by a park employee.
Greenville County Sheriff’s Office deputies initially responded to a 911 call reporting the accident at the social and amusement park business at 45 Park Woodruff Drive.
The sheriff’s department and coroner’s office continue to investigate what happened.
Shortly after the incident, Frankie’s Fun Park’s doors were locked and closed for business.
“At this time, Frankie’s is providing information and assistance to both law enforcement and OSHA,” Jamie Waddell, general manager of Frankie’s Fun Park, said in a statement. “When the circumstances and causes of the accident are determined, additional information will be related, as appropriate. It is with a heavy heart that we share this news. Please keep Seveion and his family in your thoughts.”
Waddell said Sewell had worked at the park for over a year.
Frankie’s Fun Park is a social gaming space that offers mini golf, go-karting, batting cages, laser tag, and more. In South Carolina, there are locations in Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville.
