Leadership and senior staff of the EC to continue working despite Christmas break –EC

The EC has said that its leadership and senior staff will continue with their work despite the commission’s Christmas break from 23rd December 2020.

The commission earlier this week announced that it would be going on a recess after organizing a successful election from 23rd December 2020 to 19th January 2021. This update caused a stir in the news as some people questioned why the EC should take that step despite demonstrations against it by the NDC after declaring the election results.

In an update statement by the commission dated 23rd December 2020, the commission has said its step to go on recess was a step to cut down administrative costs and insists that the leadership and senior staff will remain at post during the festive season.
