Five teenage ballet dancers, Saori Maeda, Rhyann Diaz, Camille Williamson, Liv Wreck and Katrina Vija have been involved in an accident after a hit-and-run driver in a Mercedes blew through a red light, smashing into the vehicle they were all traveling in.
According to dailymail.co.uk, Saori Maeda, Rhyann Diaz, Camille Williamson, Liv Wreck and Katrina Vija were driving to dinner after class when their car was hit.
Four of the girls were knocked unconscious on impact.
All five were taken to the hospital, where Rhyann and Camille remain.
The incident happened on Saturday 11th February 2023, in Seal Beach, California,
Rhyann, who was sitting behind the driver’s seat, suffered the worst injuries; all of her ribs are broken and she has a punctured lung and shattered pelvis.
The Mercedes was captured on surveillance footage as it ran a red light and collided head-on with the girls’ sedan, causing the vehicle to spin and leaving four of the five girls unconscious.
All of the girls were transported to the hospital, with three being released and Rhyann and Camille Williamson still remaining in medical care.
The girls are now requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the driver who fled on foot after crashing into their car and subsequently into a bus stop.
The police have described the suspect as a Hispanic male, aged between 18 and 20.
The ballet school attended by the girls is currently organizing a fundraiser to help cover their medical expenses.
