Sadio Mane has been named CAF Footballer of the year 2019 after the Senegalese beat Riyadh Mahrez and club teammate Mohammed Salah
The Liverpool forward finished last season with 22 league goals to win the golden boot in the English Premier League. An award he shared with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Mohammed Salah.
That wasn’t enough though as Liverpool finished narrowly behind eventual premier league winners Manchester City.
In the champions league, however, Mane struck gold as he and his Liverpool team clinched the ultimate.
That luck was not continued in the summer AFCON as Mane fell short of the title with Senegal ,losing 1-0 to Algeria in the final of the competition held in Cairo, Egypt.
After a brilliant start to the current 2019/2020 football season, Liverpool sit top of the premier league with an envious unbeaten record with Mane playing a starring role.
