Ronaldo scores 4 as 5-time Balon d’or winner breaks another record.

Cristiano Ronaldo has added yet another record to his growing collection after netting 4 times in the UEFA Euro qualifiers against Lithuania.

Ronaldo started yesterday with 89 national team goals and ended with 93. He is now 16 goals behind Iran’s Ali Diaei, who is the all time topscorer in international games.

This also makes him the highest scorer(25) in European qualifications, beating Robbie Keane, who was on 23 goals.

The Portugal captain scored 4 times against Lithuania as Portugal recorded yet again another win in their qualification campaign to defend their European title.

Ronaldo got his first after slotting home a first half penalty early in the 7th minute with Portugal dominating possession and taking the game to Lithuania.

The pressure was quickly foiled as Lithuania got the equaliser moments later.

At half time, Lithuania looked to strongly be in the game while the Portuguese front 3 of Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Felix and Bernardo Silva were kept quiet after the penalty.

The double European and Nations League champions took it a step further and moved into second gear.

This level was just too high for the Lithuanians as they were forced into mistakes and school boy errors. This led to Ronaldo getting his second after a goalkeeping howler.

A third came sooner after a Bernardo Silva cross found an unmarked Ronaldo in the 6 yard box. He wasn’t going to miss from there.

Ronaldo wasn’t done there as he got his and Portugal’s 4th with about 10 minutes to go and was substituted with a standing ovation from both sets of fans for Goncalo Guedes.

Portugal got a 5th through William Carvalho’s toe poked finish in what was a 5 star performance.

Two wins in two now puts Portugal in pole position to qualify for next year’s championship.
