Rocky Dawuni Outlines The Essence Of Ghanaian Female Musicians

International reggae star, Rocky Dawuni has acknowledged the essence of having Ghanaian female singers in Ghana, saying that they are very important to the music industry.

The reggae star who has been in the country for some time now is set to release his new album sometime in March but already has been spotted shooting a music video with BET winner, Stonebwoy.

Speaking to Sammy Flex on Zylofon Fm’s Showbiz Agenda about Ghanaian female singers, Rocky Dawuni praised them saying they contribute greatly to the music industry in Ghana. “Ghanaian female singers are powerful. They are very essential to the music industry”

As monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, the Grammy Award nominee has been around the world making him a notable world brand with the genre of music he does, but admitted to Sammy Flex that he has come to stay in Ghana. He also explained the good feeling he has when he comes to town and talked about his upcoming album noting that it’s a beautiful feeling. “For me an artiste, whenever you have a new album, it’s a new beginning so am pleased to be out here. I wouldn’t exchange it for anything. It’s really beautiful. I’ve moved back home. People don’t believe it but I’ve moved back here”.

Touching on how he was going to handle bookings and performances whiles down here, Rocky Dawuni said he has all measures in place to take care of that and that everything will be fine. “Am part of the environment. I have a great management here coming on board”. He added that he would be playing international shows should he be called to do so but he is sure to return back home afterwards.

Reflecting on how great his previous albums has been, Rocky Dawuni said his previous six albums has done great in the world, getting him to work with great brands across the world such as EA Sports. He went further to say that his upcoming album touched on local Ghanaian issues. “The next album reflects my take on Ghana.” Rocky disclosed he has worked with three Ghanaian artistes so far on the upcoming album, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Wiyalaa. In praises for Wiyaala, the reggae star said Wiyaala is a great talent and a great artiste to work with. “Wiyalaa collaborated with me. She has been out there innovating, connecting and performing. She’s undeniable so to me, our collaboration was good. Once the album comes out, you will know what I am talking about”

In a response to how it felt to have Stonebwoy on a song, he said it felt good to work with Stonebwoy and that Ghanaians should expect something big. “Stonebwoy and I had a lot of fun while working on the song. Everyone should expect that. It’s a boom!”

Rocky touched on the feeling of having Jamaica take credit for the good works of Reggae music saying it was great move from the United Nations to credit Jamaica for Reggae music and that there was no problem with that. “It’s an acknowledgement and everyone who works in that sphere should feel happy. It’s not about the messenger, it’s about the message”.
