Robin Westman has been linked online to the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis that left three people dead and another 20 injured on Wednesday.
The shooting, which targeted a morning Mass attended by schoolchildren, has shocked the community and prompted a federal investigation.
Who Is Robin Westman?
Robin Westman, a man in his early 20s, carried out the attack during a morning school Mass, firing dozens of rounds from outside the church windows. He was heavily armed, carrying a rifle, shotgun, and pistol, along with a smoke bomb-like device that was later recovered at the scene.
Police confirmed that Westman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound before officers could apprehend him.
According to early reports, Westman had no known criminal history. Authorities are investigating his background, online activities, and any possible connections to the school or church.
Online Trail and Possible Manifesto
Social media platforms have been flooded with discussions about a video allegedly uploaded by Westman before the shooting. The video reportedly showed someone flipping through a document resembling a manifesto.
Officials have not yet confirmed whether the video is authentic or directly linked to the suspect, but investigators are analyzing his digital footprint for clues into his motives.
A Community Left in Grief
Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the shooting as an “unthinkable act of violence against children and families.”
Mayor Jacob Frey mourned with the community, saying, “These kids were literally praying. They should be able to worship and learn in peace.”
Governor Tim Walz also called the tragedy “a horrific act” and vowed that investigators would uncover every detail about Westman’s actions leading up to the attack.
The Investigation Continues
Federal agencies including the FBI and ATF have joined Minneapolis police in a full investigation. Their goal is to determine whether Westman acted alone, what motivated him, and whether others may have known about his plans.
