Real Madrid have completed the signing of Lyon and French left back Ferland Mendy.
The young defender, who signed from Olimpique Lyonnais had been in negotiations with the Spanish giants for some weeks now but a move appears to have been finalized as the two clubs seem to have finally agreed on a fee.
The official Real Madrid website released a statement on Wednesday evening, saying :
“Real Madrid C. F. and Olympique Lyonnais have agreed the transfer of Ferland Mendy.
The player has signed a contract with the club for the next six seasons, running to the 30th of June 2025.
Mendy will be presented on Wednesday the 19th of June at 1:00pm CEST in the VIP box at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Mendy will then set foot on the Santiago Bernabéu pitch for the first time wearing a Real Madrid C.F. jersey and speak to the press“
Mendy joined Lyon from Le Havre for a fee of €5m in 2017 having spent his youth years at PSG prior to that.
He was called up to the French national team for the first time in November 2018 and made his debut against Uruguay that sane month.
He becomes Madrid’s fifth summer signing after Rodrygo, Eder Militao, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard.
