Ghana’s representative in the CAF Confederations Cup this season, Ashantigold Football Club will face off with Moroccan Stalwarts RS Berkane in the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Ashantigold, popularly known as the Aboakese club, have been in high spirits and good form over the last couple of games, winning 6 of their last 7 games.
Since then, the Obuasi based club have done themselves good to keep their competitive edge in the absence of football in the country.
This they have done by playing two friendly gams against Asante Kotoko(In the RS Edusei Memorial cup), which they won 4-3 on penalties.
They also beat Team Youth 4-0 in their final preparation game before the clash against Berkane.
After the Tema Youth game, coach De Rocha announced that he had the full complement of his squad to use with no notable injury.
If Ashantigold are going to get a win or any positive result at all, then they will need their top striker, Shafiu Mumuni in great form on the day.
The striker, who scored a record breaking hattrick in 8 minutes against Akonangui ,will be looking to lead the line and add to his tally against the Moroccan giants.
RS Berkane themselves are not in the best of forms since May, when they lost the CAF Confederations Cup final.
The Moroccan giants, who won the Moroccan throne cup last year have to do without a host of Stars who have been sold by the club after their remarkable performance last season.
They are winless since the CAF Confederations Cup final first leg and have been knocked out of the Moroccan throne cup, a competition they won last season.
They have failed to score in two of their last three games but having the full complement of their squad, they will be looking to once again embark on a good run in a competition where they were losing finalists last season.
The game is in Obuasi on Saturday, 14th of September at 3pm.
