Three university colleges have been granted Presidential Charters to award their own degrees by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Methodist University College, Ghana, Presbyterian University College, Ghana, and Catholic University College, Ghana are the three institutions.
The Office of the President issued a statement signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, urging the Colleges to take all steps necessary to prepare their Presidential Charters to be signed by the President.
Previously, the three universities were affiliated with other institutions of higher learning.
The charter however makes the universities autonomous and grants them the power to award their own degrees and diplomas.
In 2020, the President similarly presented presidential charters to the Pentecost University College and All Nations University College, Koforidua.
