The Black Meteors failed to get a win in their first leg encounter with the Young Foxes of Algeria.
The Black Meteors had to call on on Dauda Mohammed penalty to get a draw ahead of a return leg in Algeria next Tuesday.
Here is how the players rated on the day.
GK: Kwame Baah
The goalkeeper stood tall in post for Ghana and pulled up 3 stunning saves to keep the Meteors in the game. Commanded his line very well and could do very little about the goal he conceded. 7.5/10
RB: Kingsley Fobi
The Spain based defender started slowly but dealt very well with the Algerian threats down the wing. However, he failed to impact the attack and his crosses left a lot to be desired. 6/10
LB: Gideon Mensah
The young Left Back was reserved in this game but grew into the game in the second half. Again, his crosses left a lot to be desired. 6/10
CB: Nicholas Opoku
The more experienced member of the team failed to keep a calm head in defence and looked ragged throughout the game. At times, he looked very out of place in what was a disappointing day for the Udinese man. 4.5/10
CB: Zakaria Fuseini
Had very little to do and looked the more composed of the defenders. Cleared his lines very well. 6/10
MF: Majid Ashimeru
Started off being Ghana’s brightest spot. Had the most touches and looked to be the man to make things work for the Meteors. He looked overwhelmed but was helped by the introduction of Isaac Twum who allowed him the freedom to move forward and affect the game more. 6.5/10
MF : Osmanu Bukari
The midfielder grew into the game slowly but was unable to stamp his authority on the game. 5/10
MF: Joseph Pantsil
Poor outing for the highly rated midfielder as he struggled throughout the game. 5/10
MF : Yaw Yeboah
The captain missed a penalty to cap of what was a poor first half for him. He however recovered very well in the second half, winning the penalty for the equaliser and leading the Ghanaian Charge for the winner that wasn’t to be. 6/10
CF: Bernard Tekpetey
The striker was not his usual self today as he cast a frustrated figure in attack. He failed to create nor get a shot at goal and was rightly subbed off. 4.5/10
CF: Dauda Mohammed
Came on and failed to affect his game in any way. Poor afternoon 5/10
Was an assured presence in midfield an allowed the Black Meteors to actually have a hold on the midfield. Good outing. 6.5/10
William Dankyi: N/A
The Meteors face a daunting task to beat the young Foxes in Setif on Tuesday.
