I am honoured to be named ambassador for the United Nations Foundation’s Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. I am passionate about seeing to it that the essential task of cooking does not result in death. I would like for us all to join in the drive to reduce the harmful effects of cooking with firewood and charcoal. No life should be lost through cooking. I look forward to engaging all stakeholders in this regard. Thank you all very much.
I was honoured to be invited to participate in the just ended World Family Planning Summit 2017 in London, England. It was themed “For Safer, Healthier and Empowered Futures #HerFuture. The summit was to deliberate on commitments and strategies from various countries on the education and access to family planning and women’s rights. This has been proven to be the most effective way to improve healthcare, education and economic empowerment in any society. I was in the company of Dr. Patrick Aboagye, Director for Family Health,Ghana Health Service and Hon. Tina Mensah, Deputy Minister of Health who led the delegation. We had successful discussions on Adolescent Reproductive Health Education in Ghana with the Hon. Rory Stewart, Joint Minister of State for the Department of International Development and Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Office. It was also an honour to hear from and meet with Melinda Gates and the Deputy U.N. Secretary General Mme. Amina J. Mohammed. We concluded our trip with a meeting with representatives from DFID, Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and Palladium to discuss the progress Ghana has made thus far.
