A motorcycle rider identified as Pat McCool lost his life after in a crash on Farmington Avenue, city police say.
The incident occurred on Farmington Avenue near Oakland Street around 12 a.m. Saturday.
Bristol police spokesperson Lt. Patrick Krajewski said in a news release that two motorcycles traveled past a police sergeant on Farmington Avenue at “a high rate of speed.”
“The sergeant turned around to attempt to stop the motorcycles but found that one of them had crashed, failing to negotiate the curve in the roadway,” Krajewski said.
First responders performed “life-saving measures” on the motorcycle driver who crashed, Krajewski said. The rider was taken to an area hospital, where they died, he added.
The crash closed Farmington Avenue for six hours, according to Krajewski.
