France Midfielder Ousmane Dembele has undergone surgery on a niggling injury. The Barcelona forward is expected to spend the next 6 months recuperating on the sidelines.
Dembele, who made the €110m switch to the Camp Nou in 2017 has found his time with the Spanish giants plagued by several injuries and is set to spend some more time on the sidelines.
The injury also means Ousmane will not feature for France at EURO 2020. The world champions were looking to win consecutive tournaments but will be without their skilled winger.
This is a big blow for both Ousmane, who is a key member for the French National team, and coach Didier Descahmps who sees him as a key member for the team and his hopes of correcting the mistakes of Euro 2016 and winning the continental tournament.
For Barcelona, the effects of this injury is huge with Luis Saurez also missing for the rest of the season.
He is scheduled to return to full fitness in October and will miss the start of next season.
