One shot as Kotoko’s loss to Chelsea marred by Chaos.

Chaos ensued in Kotoko’s 1-0 home loss to Berekum Chelsea as Fans expressed their gross displeasure at officiating at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

One fan was shot after Police tried to control an agitated crowd during and after Kotoko’s 1-0 home loss to Berekum Chelsea in week 3 of the Ghana Premier league 2019/2020 season.

For the entire duration of the game, Kotoko fans expressed their displeasure at the officiating in the ground with Referee Charles Bulu turning down many penalty calls by the porcupine warriors.

These incensed the fans more to charge on the referee but they restricted their protests to shouts and chants.

However, the situation reached boiling point when Kotoko’s Empem Dacosta was sent off with the decision percieved by the fans to be wrong.

The fans, now extremely furious at this stage, pelted missles on the pitch with the assistant referee being the target of many.

The police did well to calm the crowd and maintain order for the game to resume. After 90 minutes and 8 minutes of added time, the game came to an end with the porcupine warriors losing by a goal to nil.

The fans weren’t done yet as they picked off from where they left and continued to throw missles. The security was on hand and did well to guide the referee and his assistants off the pitch.

With protests continuing, the police in an attempt to calm the crowd fired gunshots with a Kotoko fan at the end of one.

The fan has since been admitted at the emergency unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
