We all love the legendary rapper Obrafour for what he does and his maturity in the Ghanaian rap game, nut have you had the chance to hear from him on what motivated him to start rapping?
The rapper has shared a touching story of how he started rapping in an interview with Accra based Hitz Fm on Monday.
As monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, the Michael Kwabena Okyere Darko popularly referred to as Obrafour told host of Daybreak Hitz, Andy Dosty that he had to leave home after his mum died to survive and had to survive on his own. He added that life got tough and that was when he had to befriend a rapper in his community named Quincy to teach him how to rap.
He said; I left home after my mother’s demise and I was perching with friends and life was rough at that time and there was this guy that everybody wanted to associate with because he could rap and I realized because he could rap people shower him with gifts at every party and when he goes for every gathering people shower him with gifts and free food. I needed to survive.”
Obrafour however recounted that the guy demanded a heavy amount of money at that time which he couldn’t afford so after several attempts which proved futile, he had start writing on his own.
Obrafour’s PAE MU KA @ 20 concert comes off this Saturday 9th of November, 2019 at the Accra International Conference Center.
