The neighbor of a newlywed nurse who went missing has been arrested after her remains were tragically found.
Melissa Jubane’s body was recovered by police days after her “unusual” disappearance was reported to authorities.
Jubane’s neighbor Bryce Johnathan Schubert, 27, was arrested and charged with murder, according to the Beaverton Police Department.
The disappearance of Jubane, 32, sparked a massive search operation in Portland, Oregon.
Concerns arose after the nurse did not attend her morning shift at the local St. Vincent Hospital on September 4.
“Her absence without communication was deemed unusual and alarming,” police said.
Cops revealed her body had been found on September 7.
Jubane death came just days after she married her military boyfriend of 10 years on August 25.
The wedding was planned for August 25 in Honolulu, Hawaii, with a reception for close friends and family, according to their wedding website.
Jubane and her husband arrived back in Oregon on September 1 and took Labor Day off.
She went into work on Tuesday but disappeared on Wednesday.
Her husband Bryan Llantero is from Hawaii and family members had flown to Oregon to help with the search.
The couple met when Jubane traveled to Hawaii with her friends.
Her family-in-law shared heartbreaking words about the young nurse.
“She is very humble, she’s very pretty, she’s smart, she’s very intelligent, and very respectful,” her mother-in-law told KHON-TV.
“She’s like a daughter to me, she’s very close to me.”
