Normalisation committee special competition Matchday 13 review

Kotoko striker, Sogne Yacouba scored one and assisted the other on his return to the side as Kotoko defeated Medeama Sporting Club 2-0 to top Premier A.

Yacouba, who was making his first appearance for the porcupine warriors after their CAF Confederations Cup exit was in some sublime form as Kotoko did the needful and defeated the Tarkwa boys.

Kotoko came into the game knowing that only a win could put them in favourable qualification positions ahead of the final game of the competition.

After a goalless first half, Kotoko returned in the second half with full intent. It only took two minutes for Yacouba to nod them ahead after he connected Fatawu’s cross into the near post.

Yacouba then turned provider for Fatawu as he sealed the win in the dying minutes of the game.

The win puts kotoko top of the premier A table with a game to go ,needing only a draw to qualify for the next round.

Elsewhere in premier A, Ashgold beat Bechem United 4-0 and Aduana Stars played out a goalless draw with XI Wonders.

In Premier B, Hearts beat Elmina Sharks 3-1 to seal top spot in Premier B. Karela bounced back after their midweek defeat to beat Dreams FC 2-0 , Liberty got an impressive 2-1 victory against Ebusua Dwarfs while WAFA lost 4-2 to Bottom placed Inter Allies.

As it stands, Hearts and Karela occupy the qualification spots for Premier B while Kotoko and Ashgold lead the way in premier A.
