The normalisation committee of the Ghana football association has accepted the decision of Kumasi Asante Kotoko to withdraw from the semi final of the Normalisation Committee Special Competition.
Earlier last week, Kumasi Asante Kotoko threatened to withdraw from the competition, cutting several issues in the organization of the semi finals,including their displeasure at the venue of their clash with fierce rivals Accra Hearts of Oak being in the latter’s home stadium in Accra.
However, the normalisation committee ignored all concerns and stuck to the venue. This led to Kotoko withdrawing from the competition, to which the Normalisation Committee has now accepted. An official statement from the committee read;
“The Ghana Football Association sends its compliments,” they began.
“The GFA NC Special Competition Committee has taken note of your withdrawal and concerns raised in yours dated 3rd June 2019 on the above subject but wish you could rescind your withdrawal and participate in the NC Tier one Special Competition, ” they added.
The GFA would wish to have the two glamorous clubs play the semi finals. However,we wish you well if you still stand by your earlier decision, “they added
“Accept Sir our warmest regards,”they concluded.
Kotoko finished runners up in Premier A and were expected to be even stronger in the semis with the return of star man Sogne Yacouba.
The Semi final of the Normalisation Committee Special competition was scheduled to take place on June the 15(Ashgold vs Karela) and 16 (Kotoko vs Hearts). Kotoko’s withdrawal however means Hearts of Oak automatically are through to the final of the competition with a chance to win the competition and qualify for next year’s CAF Champions League.
