Just a few days after celebrating female athletes in different parts of the Arab world, Nike has unveiled a new line of sports clothing designed exclusively for plus size women.
Currently sweeping social media in a wave of glory, the initiative aims to show that the sports world doesn’t belong to anyone and that, contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to look a certain way to work out.
Giving ladies of all shapes and sizes the opportunity to feel great as they work up a sweat, Nike is now one of the only brands to offer workout wear that goes beyond a UK size 14.
In a statement explaining the move, Nike says:
“In today’s world, sport is no longer something that she does, it’s who she is. The days where we have to add ‘female’ before ‘athlete’ are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes’ diversity, from ethnicity to body shape.”
According to Mashable, the collection is made up of more than 200 products including leggings, shorts and tops, all available in sizes XL to XXXL. Best news of all: the sports bras will go up to 38E.
