Former NHL player Raymond Sawada has passed away at the age of 38 after suffering a heart attack ‘while playing the game he loved’.

His family announced the tragic news via a GoFundMe fundraiser on Tuesday. Sawada played with the Dallas Stars during the 2008-09 season.

‘It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the sudden passing of Ray Sawada,’ the statement on the page read.

‘At age 38, Ray passed away on the evening of Monday April 10, 2023, while playing the game he loved. 

‘He leaves behind his loving wife, Nicole Sawada, his two young and incredibly amazing daughters, Victoria, nine, and Charlotte, six, and his supportive, devoted, and dedicated family and friends.’

Nicole Sawada is an American medical doctor and the wife of the late Raymond Sawada.

Her specialties include Anesthesiology, Surgery.

Nicole Sawada writes on her Facebook profile that she attended Portage Northern High School and later went to  Ferris State University.

She received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and has been in practice between 11-20 years.

She is from  Portage, Michigan.

Raymond and Nicole Sawada have two daughters together, Victoria and Charlotte.

There is very little information out there about Nicole Sawada’s parents and whether she has siblings.
