My Songs Are Used in Church for Choreography – Kuami Eugene

Highlife artiste, Kuami Eugene, says his songs are clean and are used for choreography in churches.

Speaking in an interview with Franky 5 on ‘This is Gospel’ on Hitz FM, the award-winning musician lamented bitterly about how people criticise him for doing love songs instead of the gospel songs.

When he was a gospel musician, Kuami Eugene used the stage name Eugene Marfo.

The talented musician noted that because of his Christian background, he is very circumspect of the kind of lyrics he uses in his songs.

The ‘Wish Me Well’ singer expalined that the love songs that he writes and churns out to the general public are biblical and do not fall under the category of secular music.

“…I hardly say unnecessary things in my music. You will hardly find filthy words in my music. My song ‘Wish me well’ is used for choreography in churches…,” he told Franky 5.

Recently at the 2018 edition of Adom FM’s Adom Praiz, the young singer surprisingly mounted the stage and sung gospel tunes and climaxed it with his recent song ‘Wish Me Well’.

According to some gospel fanatics and entertainment pundits, artistes who perform secular songs in churches and especially Kuami Eugene’s performance at Adom Praiz 2018, are blasphemous.

Reacting to the criticisms, Kuami Eugene fired back saying that it is also blasphemous to criticise when it comes to Christianity.

Kuami Eugene was crowned ‘Best New Artiste’ and ‘Highlife Artiste of the Year’ at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
