A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on crash late Friday night in Catawba County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said it happened around 11:20 p.m. on Hudson Chapel Road near Brown Chapel Road.

A motorcycle traveling west on Hudson Chapel Road lost control, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with a Honda Civic.

The motorcyclist, Django Rosenbaum, 24, of Sherrills Ford, was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.

The driver of the Honda and two other passengers were not injured.

Troopers said their initial investigation shows excessive speed to be the contributing factor in the crash. During the on-scene investigation, the road was closed for about two hours. No charges will be filed in this crash.
