Milwaukee, WI – A woman is dead after a shooting late Monday night near downtown Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 11 p.m. on the 300 block of West Vliet Street, near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified online by friends and family as Monae Hudson, who also went by Ashley Marie.
Her last words, according to witness accounts on social media, were reportedly: “Please don’t shoot me.”
Police say the cause of the shooting is still under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
