Mike Oquaye Jnr is a Ghanaian politician, lawyer, businessman, diplomat, and currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority.
His appointment as CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority by President Akufo-Addo took place on 3rd August 2021.
Prior to his current role, Mike Oquaye Jnr served as Ghana’s high commissioner to India during the first term of President Akufo-Addo.
He is also the son of the former Speaker of Parliament, Aaron Mike Oquaye.

Education
Mike Oquaye Junior had his secondary education at the Presbyterian Secondary School (PRESEC).
Following his secondary school education, Mike Oquaye gained further education and studied law in England.
A BL from BPP Law School in Holborn, UK, and an LLB from Oxford Brookes University in Oxford are among his qualifications.
Additionally, he is studying for an LLM in Oil and Gas at Dundee University in Scotland.
He was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and later called to the bar in Ghana.
Career
As an International Investment Corporate Lawyer, he has extensive experience in Project Finance, Infrastructure, Mergers and Acquisitions, General Contracts and Commercial Transactions.
In his global experience, he has primarily focused on emerging businesses and markets – his country of business experience includes the United Kingdom, the United States, and ECOWAS Region.
He practices law in a variety of areas including energy (oil and gas, biofuels, renewable energy), media and technology, telecoms, commodities, and agriculture, among others.
He has worked in Ghana and the UK for many years. The last job he had in the UK was working with the renowned barrister AI Mustakim at 9 Kings Bench Walk, Chancery Lane, London.
He worked as a lawyer at Exusia Law Consult with renowned lawyers including Yeboa Amoa (first director of Ghana Stock Exchange) and Essie F. Cobbina (Cocoa Board Ghana).
In July 2017, President Nana Akuffo-Addo named Mike Oquaye Jnr as Ghana’s High Commissioner to India.
He was among twenty-two other distinguished Ghanaians who were named to head various diplomatic Ghanaian missions in the world.
On 3rd August 2021, President Akufo-Addo appointed him as the CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority.
Private Life
Maureen Oquaye is his wife, and they have three children.
