Michael Essien is under fire on social media after throwing his weight behind the LGBT community in Ghana.
Michael Essien who started his career here in Ghana has left many disappointed after endorsing the need for queer rights to be respected in Ghana.
In a post on Essien’s official Instagram account (@michaelessien), he said, “We see you, we hear you, we support you. Our LGBTQIA plus community in Ghana“
Essien’s post, however, did not sit well with Ghanaians who have max respect for the footballer.
According to a follower of the footballer on the glamourous platform, the post – which has been deleted – has cost Essien to lose over 500,000 followers in less than 24hrs.
