PSG Gains Millions of Instagram Followers After Signing
Upon confirmation that Messi had joined PSG, its official Instagram account gained millions of new followers.
In the days before the announcement, the Paris-based team had 38.7 million followers. In the 24 hours since we wrote this, the club gained 42.7 million followers.
The footballer’s signing has increased PSG’s following by four million people.
Even before the announcement, the followers began to grow.
His departure from Barcelona and subsequent link with France led to dramatic growth in their fanbase.
This represents a total increase of 23 million Instagram followers in the last week for the club, which is up from 19 million to over 42 million.
Messi’s Followers Increased Too
Apart from PSG, Lionel Messi’s personal Instagram account also gained many more fans.
Despite always being one of the top ten most-followed individuals on the platform, the 34-year-old has recently gained even more popularity.
His following soared by 2.7 million followers on the same day that PSG announced his transfer (August 10th), reaching 247 million.
Thus, he has overtaken Kim Kardashian in terms of Instagram followers and moved up to seventh place.
