Mathew Penny Identified as One of Five Victims in Tragic Clermont County Crash

Mathew Penny, a man from Lockland, Ohio, has been identified as one of the five victims in a fatal car crash that occurred early on the morning of October 6th in Clermont County.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his older brother, Michael Penny, through a post on Facebook. In his emotional message, Michael revealed that Mathew lost his life due to a drunk driver.

“My brother Mathew Penny was killed last night by a drunk driver in Goshen. Please give me time to lose my mind,” Michael wrote, expressing his profound grief.

He further added, “My right-hand man was taken from me on 5/23/24, and now my left hand was taken from me on 10/6/24. All I have left is my sister.”

Another victim identified from the tragic accident is Chloe Love.

A GoFundMe page set up in her honor described Chloe as a vibrant young woman who deeply impacted those around her. “She was taken from this earth far too soon in the early morning hours,” the page reads. “Chloe was involved in a terrible car accident. She had the most infectious laugh and was loved by everyone she met. Her loss is truly devastating, and she will be missed beyond measure.”

The crash occurred at 1:34 a.m. in the 2500 block of State Route 28, near the Bronze Bell Bar and Grill in Pleasant Plain.

According to Sgt. Joseph Westhoven of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Chrysler vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR-28, while a Subaru was heading northbound into Pleasant Plain.

The exact details of the crash are still under investigation, but it’s believed that the Chrysler, which was reportedly speeding, played a significant role.

There were four people in the Chrysler, three of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

The fourth is in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Both occupants of the Subaru, who were wearing seatbelts, also died in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together what led to the devastating accident.
