A 40-year-old married mechanic, Olasunkami Oluwole, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly beating and strangling his lover, Biola Soyinka to death.
The suspect had invited his lover to Osun state where he resides and lodged her outside his home to avoid his wife.
According to Vanguard, the father of two later called the deceased’s sister to inform her that Biola had passed on.
The deceased elder brother, Akeem Jinadu told the publication that the suspect informed them that their sister had died after she slumped.
He said: “on the 16th of January we received a call from Oluwole that my sister Biola had passed on.
“When did we ask what happened to her? He said: Biola became unconscious after she slumped at about 4 am on Sunday 16th of January by the time he rushed her to the hospital, the doctors declared her dead.
“When we asked him to bring her corpse back to Lagos he demanded that we send money for transportation.”
He stated that contrary to what his sister’s lover told them and the police there were marks on her body which pointed to assault.
He further revealed that they were trying to raise money for the autopsy demanded by the doctor.
He said: “We are still trying to raise two hundred and fifty thousand naira for her autopsy as demanded by the doctor.”
The suspect reportedly tried to escape from the hospital after the doctor confirmed Biola dead.
The police was said to have assured the family that justice would be served and the case has been transferred to the state criminal investigation department in Akure for further investigation.
