Malike Williams: 26-year-old man shot, killed at Birmingham convenience store Tuesday

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide they say happened Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called to the Big Boy convenience store in the 2700 block of Pearson Avenue Southwest just before 5 p.m.

When they arrived, officers found 26-year-old Malike Williams, of Birmingham, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported Williams to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced him dead.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a confrontation between Williams and another man. Both are believed to have been armed.

The suspect shot the victim and left the scene. At this time, police are unaware whether Williams shot back or not.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with information to come forward.
