Massive pressure continues to mount on the top leadership of the opposition NDC after the party was defeated in the Presidential election conducted on December 7, 2020.
The defeat, which marked the second consecutive time has brought internal divisions and uproar within the party as some party loyals have blamed the leadership.
The approval of the Ministers appointed by the President also added to the division in the party. Recall, some 3 Ministers-Designate were initially rejected by the NDC MPs which lead to the Parliament approval.
Unexpectedly, all 3 MPs passed the vetting, a development which raised alarms in the NDC.
As if that was not enough, a group within the NDC called the Movement for Accountable Leadership has called on NDC leaders to be accountable to the party faithful. It was in an interesting moment during the press conference when the group issued an ultimatum to the leaders to release the collated sheets.
The group is calling on former President John Dramani Mahama to explain the aftermath Court processes to the NDC supporters.
The leader of the group speaking the press, issued a 14 day ultimatum to the leaders to provide a copy of the collated results for the presidential election.
Inscriptions on postcards revealed demands like “Enough is Enough”, “Stop taking the grassroots for granted,” “Mahama is destroying the NDC,” “The NDC does not belong to Mahama!”
