One man is dead and another is in custody after an early morning shooting, according to officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Police said it happened on Saturday around 7:55 a.m. Officers responded to 1449 Peace Court in response to a shooting.
When the arrived, officers found one victim, later identified as 36-year-old Lomark Dean Cameron, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Despite receiving lifesaving efforts by officers and EMS, Cameron died at the scene.
The Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and assumed investigative responsibility.
Police said they arrested 59-year-old Darrin Leroy Perry on scene.
Investigators said it was an isolated incident. Perry and Cameron, who are related, were hanging out in Perry’s apartment when a verbal and physical altercation occurred. That led to Perry shooting Cameron.
Perry was charged with felony murder and felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Perry is currently being held in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center with no bond.
His first scheduled court appearance is Monday, Nov. 4.
